The Nonprofit Management Certificate
program
is a seven-part series on nonprofit best practices
designed to provide a well-rounded education in the
day-to-day management of a successful nonprofit
organization.
This continuing education program is certified by the State of Texas and
therefore subject to State regulation. Therefore, attendance for
the entire length of each session is mandatory in order to earn certification.
Leaving the class for extended periods of time, arriving significantly
late and leaving early will jeopardize your certification. Candidates
seeking certification may take up to 12 months to complete the series. The following courses will be offered in the spring, summer and fall
semesters.

Strategic Planning for Nonprofits
Basics of Strategic Planning Design & Implementation
This session examines the fundamental role that strategic thinking, alignment, and planning play in effective and sustainable growth of nonprofit organizations. Topics include:
- Getting organized to plan by creating a team of
the right people and a planning roadmap/timeline.
- Creating alignment of vision, mission, and shared
values and with programs and resources.
- Setting direction to guide the future of the
organization.
- Creating strategic goals and measurable objectives
to advance the mission of the organization.
- Identifying performance measures and outcomes that
determine success.
- Drafting the strategic plan, ensuring all the key
components are included.
- Refining the plan based on stakeholder input and
formally adopting the plan for implementation.
- Implementing the plan by delegating the objectives
to the appropriate board committee or staff person.
