Our management consulting services include the following:

Organizational Assessment
A comprehensive organizational assessment of your agency's management and governance development. Using tools developed by the Center, a consultant will review and make recommendations in the following areas: Board of Directors, Executive Director, Financial Management, Fund Development, Human Resource Management, and Strategic and Operational Planning. The assessment includes a survey of your internal constituents, document review, and extensive interviews with key staff and board personnel. A written report of the findings and recommendations is provided, and a presentation summarizing the results of the report is made to your board.

Strategic Planning
A strategic planning process for your board to determine where your organization wants to be in the future and how to get there. Consultant facilitates the process and leads the board and executive director through the development of the strategic plan. Consultation can be a one-day board retreat or over the course of several planning sessions with a strategic planning committee or the full board. The development of the plan is based on current operations and future goals, the internal and external environment of the organization, and the scope of the organization's mission. Process includes extensive interviews with the executive director, board president, strategic planning committee, and other key board personnel. The entire board or strategic planning committee may be required to participate in pre-planning exercises, such as questionnaires and surveys.

Executive Coaching
A one to three hour session with an experienced peer helps Executive Directors gain focus and plan action to solve management challenges.

Development Audit
A comprehensive assessment of your agency's fund-raising program conducted by a consultant using tools developed by the Center. The Development Audit includes extensive interviews with the executive director, key development staff, the board president, and the board development committee. A written report is provided setting forth strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations for improvement in your fund development program. A presentation summarizing the results of the report is made to your development committee or full board.

Development Consultation
A customized consultation is provided relating to your agency's specific fund development needs. Development consultations vary widely in scope from a 3-hour "sit down" where the volunteer consultant provides general information-sharing in a particular topic to a more comprehensive 20-hour consultation that may include providing guidance and training to a development committee or board. Specific consultation topics include annual campaigns, donor cultivation, event planning, capital campaigns, membership development, grant writing, preparation of case statements, development committee functions, fund-raising duties of board members, etc.

Development Workshop
A 1-3 hour training session on the basics of fund-raising and the role of the board in fund-raising that is presented to the board, development committee, executive director, and/or development staff. Includes pre-workshop interviews with executive director, board president, development director, and other key development staff and board personnel to provide consultant with information about the agency's development program. Training session includes emphasis on agency's unique issues and assistance in preparation of development plan.

Human Resources Consultation
A customized consultation is provided based on your agency's specific human resources needs. Human resources consultations vary widely in scope from a 3-hour "sit down" where consultant provides general information-sharing on a particular topic to a more comprehensive consultation that may include establishing a performance evaluation program for staff, evaluating human resources policies, or conducting executive development and team-building workshops.

Legal Consultation
The legal review and revision by an attorney of your agency's by-laws, articles of incorporation, minor corporate contracts, and commercial leases.

Financial Management Consultation
A customized consultation is provided in the area of financial management based in your organization's unique needs. Consultations vary in scope and may include a general review of your financial health, budget, and budget development process, function of finance committee and board oversight of financial matters, relation of operational planning goals to available funding, and financial record-keeping, reporting and compliance.
