Job Title: Director of Accounting- Assets
Post Date: 5/21/2009
Description: United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is to serve as a management resource performing internal and external financial statement preparation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for non-profit organizations. A participant in the preparation of the annual operating budget and performs monthly budget analysis. The Director of Accounting Liabilities is a key participant in supervising or performing the day-to-day operations of the general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll areas such as overseeing and maintaining accounting records, including chart of accounts; account set-up; general ledgers; journal entries; payment of allocations, designations and distributions as assigned; bank reconciliations and solution of technical problems. Supervises aspects of general ledger processing, i.e., accounts receivable, revenue and cash management. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong hands-on experience in accounting with a focus on assets, i.e., accounts receivable and revenue; outstanding desktop computer tool capabilities; displays excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; self-motivated, independent and flexible with the ability to identify and deploy process improvements in a fast-paced operating environment; detail-oriented; demonstrates a team-oriented attitude; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work well under pressure, and meet prescribed timelines while handling multiple assignments simultaneously; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of donor, payroll and other sensitive information; displays organizational values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence, Adaptability and Initiative in everyday tasks. Requirements: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting required; CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification ; Three to Five years of experience in accounting role; non-profit experience preferred; Supervisory experience desired.
