As nonprofit sector service providers, we are all impacted by changes in the availability of funding and the increased need for our services. As we move through these challenging times, we find it even more important to keep our friends informed about how we respond to these challenges and what they can continue to expect from us.
What we are doing. The Center has been undergoing an analysis to assess program outcomes and mission impact. This assessment began before the economic crisis started, however with these current conditions, we are sharpening our mission focus and strengthening our core competencies and programs. The Center is scaling back its technology services and cutting costs throughout the agency to be as stream-lined as possible. In addition, we are looking for new ways to deliver the most effective services for the nonprofit community and assessing ways to remain financially sustainable. We have seen a decrease in our contributions, however the need for our services increases every day and our revenue from programs remains strong.
What you can expect. The Center hosted a series of free panel discussions on the economic crisis and its impact on the nonprofit sector. At the sessions, attendees heard from leading experts in the areas of philanthropy, finance, risk management and leadership and had their concerns and questions answered in Q&A discussions. We have also added Economic Resources to our web site and will take the lead in assisting nonprofits in North Texas through these tough times. Focused on funding, we are exploring ways for nonprofits to connect to public sources of revenue to support the services you provide. Our educational seminars have been reviewed to ensure that what we are offering currently helps nonprofits focus on strategies to effectively deal with the organizational impact of the current economic situation.
Although these are difficult times, we are optimistic about our future and the future of the nonprofit sector in North Texas. The Center is boldly facing the challenges of today and looking forward to new opportunities that are in front of us. We thank you for taking this journey with us and for supporting the work that we believe is vital to you as you deliver critical services for the community. Just as we have made retooling a priority for the Center, we encourage you to do likewise. Responding well in tough times is the truest test of the strength, vitality and sustainability of our organizations.
Wishing you the best,
Cynthia B. Nunn
